Zenne
About my design
by Zenne
I've been learning about half-tones, and decided to try out meshing my background in digital painting with t-shirt design. This is a practice piece that turned out really cool, so I figured I should finally submit something to threadless. Five colors on a dark grey background - although it may fit a print better than a t-shirt. :)

very slick! love the halftones. itd make a great print but looks tight on a tee as well. what program did you use?

The girl looks great, but the tiara looks out of place with such a different rendering

juju eyeball: I used Photoshop. I kept each layer separate as I colored with a blurry brush and a brush that changes opacity with pressure. Then, I turned each of the layers into halftones, and experimented with sizes from there.

DaniellesGarden: I flat shaded the tiara to add interest (contrast between halftones and flat shading, as well as contrast between light and dark up there), and relate the top and the bottom of the picture a little bit. Do you feel as though the tiara could have used a hint of rendering, or full out coloring just as the face?

i see what you mean, but it just doesnt work for me.

the halftones seem to be getting heavier as the eye moves from the bottom to the top, I think you should have continued that transition.

I like the contrast of having the tiara be so clear- to me it makes the girl's decay even more dramatic. $5

I have to agree with mjoo, the tiara should remain pristine.

Beautifully done, but she's way too pretty to be a zombie. Push the zombie.

The clean look of the tiara definitely balances the top with the bottom, since it matches the style of the hair there. Keep it.

she's definitely a cutie, but a little of the cheekbone shading pops a little too sharp and a little light . Not a fan of the lettering, but don't get me wrong, pretty girl + zombie = rockin'!
Her tiara has a really cool Tibetan Buddhist Art feel to it too.
