Reminds me of the Wizard of Oz rumor. I don't know that I'd wear it, but I can't help liking it. Especially how it messes with a nauseatingly boring (well-rendered here, of course) romantic stereotype. Also the tree is really gorgeous.

I thought this was a REALLY bad attempt at a necking pun. Now i realized it's just a REALLY bad attempt at re-creating an urban legend.

Jeeze, everything can't be puppies and rainbows people! There are much worse things on t-shirts these days! This may not be the exact urban legend, but it's close enough.. and it's creative! So why don't you lay off the poor girl (she's a great artist).. and stop nit picking the design. $5!

I don't really get this shirt personally, I just thought it was supposed to be some pun.
Where by there is a couple "necking" in the car, but ironic enough, theres a guy with a broken neck hanging from a tree. But I can be very densed. Nonetheless, I love the illustration of this design .. :D Wanna see more from you okay? |

So it isn't the exact urban legend (that is, exactly like the most popular form), but I think it is a cool reference and pun. Thanks for not putting that in text, and nice art! It is really neat that you took a modern legend and mix ed 'em up your own way. Props.

i know that urban legend! i like it. i don't know why so many people seem upset by the morbid nature. art can be dark, and it's okay to push boundaries. don't let the flack get to you, i really like what you've done here.

All those negative comments got me aggravated. This is a wonderfully done design and I thought of the urban legend as soon as I saw it. It's a classic and you executed it well. As far as hose saying "that's not how the legend goes", I actually interpreted the hanging man as a foreshadowing of what would happen to the boyfriend in the car. And besides, the best part of urban legends is the fact that details change over the years.
May not be popular as a shirt for the reasons made obvious by previous comments. Keep the good work coming, hun. |

Pretty grim... I don't mind the design, it looks great. But I'd be too afraid of someone having a go at me who had someone close to them commit suicide. If most people don't seem to get the reference here it might be a bit much.

'thats not how the urban legend goes'? one of the points of urban legends, as PrettyLostGirl stated so correctly, is that they shift and change over time and area! so it may not be right to YOU, but another era of people know the story! i definitely thought of the urban legend right away, and as everyone seems to agree, its absolutely beautiful. and i dont see why we cant have some dark humor!

nice art, nice pun (as much as puns are ever nice) but no, wouldn't wear it personally. also, could just be the monitor i'm on but it's all very dark - i had to look back at the design after reading the comments b/c hadn't noticed couple kissing, only the dead dude. still, that might not be a bad thing. keep trying, with art as good as yours i'm sure a less morbid design will have more success with the punters!

There is an episode of NCIS where a couple are necking in their car and a parachuter falls down dead in the trees above them and lands on their car.
It reminds me of that. |

I'm confused as why people think it's racist. That's not my intention at all. It's a silhouette, not the colour of the man's skin.

The racist comments are coming from the fact that black people used to get lynched and then strung up in trees. (I say used to... that sort of thing still happens from time to time, but it was much more prevalent several decades ago...)
That being said, I think the design is beautiful, and the race thing definitely did not enter my mind at first... only after reading people's comments did it occur to me. Your style is lovely, and definitely don't be afraid to do more controversial designs... good art is meant to stir things up. |
