Matthijs - I was debating that! I typed out the phrase for placement (with the intention of drawing my own type) and then started cycling through some hand fonts I already have - just to see if that was even the route I wanted to follow. I really liked the feel of this font and decided to leave it. After I sub'd it, I started feeling a little regret...c'est la vie. |

i like the font, but also wish it was hand drawn. it would just make it even better i think, even if you did the lettering in a similar style to the current font. there is just a bit too much repitition right now... it looks like a font instead of communicating.
also, this might be too wordy, not sure how i feel about that. otherwise i like it. |

wait kids, let's not get carried away here. Type foundries exist for a reason. I don't think this drawing would look any better or worse if the type was hand drawn versus using a font.
I guess I'm just saying that there's no use in beating a dead horse - especially when it's over the color of the saddle. ...climbs down off pedestal... 4 - nice lines. |

what you have done isn't bad but why not make the characters your own and give them your own feel, maybe lay the words out a little more dynamically also, but what you have done serves it's purpose... it's not bitching when you still get praise and high scores, it's just sweating the details to top off the existing quality. |

I know. I'm not complaining. I was more commenting on people repeating the same critique. As for the layout, that was intentional - I'm not one for leaving widows (especially multiple widows), but on this particular illustration and the story it tells, I thought I was being clever by leaving "widows." I appreciate all the comments and feedback. Thanks! |

ginetteginette on Jan 13 '08 i can't believe people are grilling you so badly for using a pre-made font. i'm usually first to comment when a font isn't working but this one just IS. you can hardly tell that it isn't hand-drawn, and in any case if you hadn't admitted that this was premade i would have assumed you premade an alphabet yourself and used the same letters over again. christ there's no harm in that when it's actually working.
^haha at glamjets. what a bugger that person is - always first to criticize but not with good suggestions. this has GOT TO print. |
