Im going to give this a 5. I think you might get a bit of hassle from people complaining that the message is that fat people want to be thin etc etc People can be quite sensitive here. But like i said. 5 from me!

I think the design is awesome, I'm in love with colors and excution, but I didn't get your point straight untill I read you. I think you should have one of the characters half fat-half skinny or maybe just show the complete arm of the fat guy on the other side of the mirror, so that we can compare the fit arm with the fat one.

Lovely illustration. I am a bit tired of the subject matter (there are other factors involved in people being overweight), but that is the nature of these contest things. Good work.

I really like the illustration style, and I like the concept.
But the message is abit unclear because the thin couple look so unlike the first two, with completely different clothes (they should have smaller/sexier versions of the same), hair colour, half the age and without a child ... to me, it's looks like 5 people walking through the mirror. |

fat-bashing certainly can be funny and your artwork is nice but i think its a very superficial approach to the theme.

i used to pollute the crap outta my body w hamburgers for years and it never made me thick....i was skinny as a rail, and there are tons of others who chomp the hell-outta burgers and they're thin still...so thats why i made the above comment..... what about what fat bastard said" i eat because im depressed and im depressed cause i eat- its a vicious cycle? do you really want to hurt those people s feelings? ive said too much.. good luck

Ellsswhere on Dec 15 '06 i understand your concern for the topic everyone... but with most art what the designer has to illustrate is the stereotype... otherwise the general public wont understand the intention behind the design, if i kept everyone skinny the entire design would be pointless, dont take art so seriously. Oh and smile!

i think fat guys must be right side because front of the mirror is on the right and remember the "max five colours" rule, otherwise good design and execution talent.

This is great :) Your characters need a little polishing (young guy has no chin, fat kid looks like he's sick, etc.) But the patterns and your style are impressive! I like it :)

listen mr ellsswhere -i take art SO seriously that it literally has paralized my ability to smile anymore. kidding>chill out buddy...i was just bustin your chops...im in the contest too- its just that poison kills skinny people too and obesity isnt exclusively relevant,and what about "the man, the bovine industry, the greed, false advertising"....so many stereo types to choose from-thats the point i was trying to make(theme relevance)cause i dig the artwork, and your like the thousanth person to tell me to smile from seeing this particular pic? oh well. good luck friend, im not being defensive am i?

I like it a lot, but i do agree with Phil 404 that having thinner versions of the fat couple to the right of the looking glass would nail the point home much cleaner and faster to the passerby. Good stuff, nontheless.

I am not getting a fast food theme here but the concept is amazing anyway. How people precieve themselves and how others see them is so amazingly skewed

I couldn't understand what was happening right at first, and it wasn't until i read you comments taht i knew what was going on. i'd suggest having the guy halfway through the mirror, that way it'd be clearer. Otherwise, I love how you drew the characters, the mirror looks especially cool.
ps. i'd recommend having the people who wear red sport a different color so they don't blend in with the background. |
