Whoa, I really didn't expect that this would have the response that it got- thank you all so much. 2.98 is a score that I'm really proud of; of course I'd love it to print (it'd certainly help me out a lot) but I'm just happy to have produced something that has had any kind of an impact. It certainly makes me keen to submit more, even though I know the next one is gonna bomb big time! If nothing happens with it here, I'm probably gonna make some prints.
So yeah, cheers guys. You rock.

The Seven Ages of Mandelion - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

Pretty much Shakespeare's seven ages, with a slightly more Edwardian slant (something along the lines of Cradle, Eton, Balliol, Diplomatic Corps, Civil Service, House of Lords, Death). Oh, and replacing the man with a dandelion.

The Seven Ages of Mandelion

Update- Black and white on a coloured background
The Seven Ages of Mandelion

Ok here's a colour version, let me know what you think:
The Seven Ages of Mandelion

*Updated*
A version with more of a washed out colour scheme

And with more distressed, block printed colours:

i think you should sub it.

Thanks sleepy! I think I will eventually, but I want to play around with colours and placement first- I like it as a black and white print, but as a tee I think it might want some colour- might try to go for a vintage block printing colour look to go with the illustration style

Thanks Jemae, I'm gonna play around with colours and see how it looks but I'll sub it sometime post-Christmas. Love the facial expressions on your design- The right hand one seems to be on the borderline between laughter and terror

I've just added a colour version- what do you think? Better or worse than the black and white? Fewer/different colours? Also suggestions for shirt colour much appreciated- thanks guys!

no color (in my opinion)

if youre going to use color, id stick with pastel/washed out-aged ones... if that makes any sense.

BaronVonMonkey
BaronVonMonkey on Dec 23 '07 at 1:17pm
Thanks- yeah, not really digging the colour at the moment but might give it a go with something more subtle. Cheers!

Have just added a couple of new colour variations- I think they're an improvement, but let me know what you think. Though I'm still a fan of the black and white too
polynothing

BaronVonMonkey, this is such a great one color design, with the ink work, I'd almost say go with just black and white :)
BaronVonMonkey
BaronVonMonkey on Dec 24 '07 at 7:05am
Thanks polynothing, I might well do just that- it definitely works better as a print in one colour, I just thought for a tee it might need a bit more, but I reckon I'll stick with black and white. Then I just need to pick a background colour
polynothing
   polynothing on Dec 24 '07 at 7:08am

Fantasic. I like the washed out version best, rather than the last one. Great idea and great execution.

Was not aware of your Baronship?

Or perhaps that is your title from another kingdom? Either way, your work is stunning.

Monsieur Le Baron, I fear my title in these realms is something of a faux pas. Alas, I was not aware of this when first I entered your kingdom, and humbly thank you for welcoming a down at heel aristo from a distant shore

Think I'm ditching the colours- have just tried it as black and white on a bluey shirt and think it looks much better, though could be put on any lighter colour shirt

I like the black & white the best, but the bottom (Muted colors) is pretty nice too. This is really beautiful!! If you ever make prints I would love to buy one...It would look awesome in my office!!

Reading monkey's comment again, was it actually a subtle way of saying there are already too many dandelion designs...?
opifan64
   opifan64 on Jan 04 '08 at 7:20pm
This will be the one ring to rule them all.... er, I mean one dandelion design to rule them all.

I predict this will print... and I have a good track record at predicting these things.

Ooh btw nikolina did you ever print off your own copy of this?
nikolina100
nikolina100 on Jan 06 '08 at 4:22pm
I did!! (Thanks again) I actually printed it in brown tones instead of the black & white, as soon as it's done being framed I will take a pic for you. It should be soon, but we are busy where I work & employee's orders always get pushed back, so people who pay full price's orders get done first!
also, I should be sending you stp's this week, if in fact Tree Town is being reprinted :D I will let you know when I sent them.
BaronVonMonkey
BaronVonMonkey on Jan 06 '08 at 4:39pm
Woo sounds awesome, brown actually sounds a great idea, I will try it- yeah I'd love to see a pic when it's framed! Gotta print myself a proper copy as well- haven't got round to it yet.
