Wow- 43 years IS long for a CF fighter to live, but still too young to die. Terribly sorry for your heartache, annie.

I had a BFF from the 6-8th grade who had CF. She died at 18.

That's so sad :( But quite amazing that he had such a long life with that disease! Definitely sending happy comforting thoughts to his family and friends.

My friend's dad died in the 5th grade. It really sucks :(

It's nice the whole class are there for the child. None of us really knew what to do at the time. Stuff went on as usual a bit, he put on a pretty brave face at school.

sorry for all your loved ones lost through the years. it's never an easy thing.
of all my children, my 6 year old has the toughest times dealing with death. she has a heart of gold.
i was just at school and spoke briefly with her teacher who said my daughter was crying this morning and wanted to make a card for the girl who lost her dad.
i love her to pieces!

Sometimes I'd see him on the way to school and we'd chat at the red lights.

That's such a nice little picture. I'm glad you have good memories of him.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. I'm also sorry that your daughter is feeling it so keenly. She must have such a big heart.

Aw, I'm sorry. That really is an amazing age to reach with CF, but regardless, it's still so young. Your daughter sounds like a big sweetheart.

cf is a pretty strange hereditary disease, and mostly misunderstood. it's an easy thing to hide unless you've developed a lot of symptoms from birth. and i have no idea why i'm admitting it but it's sort of been my small double-life for a few years now.
i got really sick in the later part of highschool and after having gone through a bunch of tests to figure out what was going on (tb tests, allergy tests etc) i found out i had cf and even the doctor who told me this didn't know much about my exact situation (as most people are diagnosed when they're babies). i remember searching up on wikipedia and i thought i was going to die by twenty. (which isn't going to happen, and apart from my bi-yearly visit to a respiratory-specialist i live pretty normally)
so whenever i hear of someone dying from this it saddens me more than it normally would, and it just makes me really glad that no one else in my family has any symptoms from the genes that they carry.

but on a lighter note i remember reading somewhere that cf research is one of the fastest advancing research of it's type.

wow ginette, i'm sorry you suffer from cf, too. i have a friend whose little boy died of cf when he was only 5, so it amazes me when i hear of people living normal or close-to-normal lives with this disease. i hope that cf research continues to move very quickly, so you can get some relief.

those few months of fear of not really knowing what cf meant in my case was much worse than what i have now. i cough more than most people do but that's really the most of it.
there are like a thousand shades to cf, it really is an odd disease.
