remember the discussion about this??? unorigional art (2)
+ unorigional idea = unorigional design. Boooo threadless

There's TONS of designers on this site that worked ALOT harder and had origional ideas that didnt make it to print.

I know. I was very dissapointed when I saw this. I thought the printing had been delayed because it was never going to happen, I thought Threadless listened to our discussion on the subject.

Lame.

idea plagerism aside, it was a record. i loved it until i learned the truth myself.

well, since it's the highest scoring design ever...

not saying that I approve of it, but obviously there are a lot of people who like it/would buy it.

It does make me wonder, though, what the score would be if people had known.

This is not like Goatse. People didn't like Goatse because it was gross. This is ripped off art, and a ripped off idea. It's copyright infringement for the art/photo, and disrespectful to the creator of the original idea.

Yep. It takes a lot of talent to use someone else's idea and, of course, trace over images not belonging to you in your rip of that idea. ALL HAIL TWIN, we're just jealous of your obvious superiority.

I don't mean this to sound cocky, but I'd really like to hear from someone from Threadless on this one... just an official's opinion on the whole thing.

threadless blows/predicament blows.... this is what happens when your company grows and you gotta pay salaries...
and printing a shirt will net you $50,000 +

I don't think Skaw understands that the tree is definately NOT traced. It's a flat out copy from an old science text book picture, so the guy can't say he made it.

I'm sort of dissapointed with his response. Clip art may be accepted every now and then in rare cases, but the entire design is just other peoples work edited a little. It was wrong of him to do on many different levels, and the fact that Threadless knew of this and still printed it is upsetting.

Meh... Last Supper's on Natural? Damnit.

who cares if parts of it are copied....

everything has been done at one time or another.

if you hate this design so much, just dont buy it. there is no reason to continue to complain. you cant have everything your way.

all i see is a great design wich makes for a great shirt. so what if he got an idea from other places? who cares! everybody gets ideas from other places! looking at other designs helps you mold as a designer. and you all know it too. and this isnt the first time someone uses another image to make a great design.

i mean look how cool this is!!

It's not the idea that bothers me, borrowing from artists ideas is fine (just look at the melting guitars submission)....

what DOES bother me, is that it isn't even an origional illustration. Anyone could have put this together in a few minutes.

As I said in another blog

It's always gonna come up, but this shirt is a rip. I personally admire the artist's ability to construct an image out of multiple images, photographs and clip art, but the idea is also stolen. Altogether, there's not even an ounce of original thought here.
But saying that, this is still popular, and threadless aren't stupid re: copyright laws so even though I have a problem with the artist and idea, it doesn't bother me that the guys have printed it. There has always been interest in this design, be it negitive or positive, so it already has a great deal of public exposure, and will selll well as a result I imagine.

Don't be disheartened guys, keep submitting the original designs.

mr rocks-Im not one of your fawning threadless fans-In fact I think your web site, though incomplete is rather bad. Furthermore, your designs although well executed are not to my taste. I do think however you have a great future ahead of you designing tees for little kids. Im quite serious. I don't know why you feel the need to pontificate regarding Predicament. As I pointed out previously in a post re: messo's the fast supper which you asked b.weiner to delete the design is completely valid and more original than a lot of the designs Ive seen chosen here. Please stop crying about it.

I don't think anyone has called it original. It's just one of those love it or hate it type deals.
