i like the idea... reminds me a bit of gloomy bear with the pink and claws.
but something about the thick outlines bother me -- gives me a coloring book feel. maybe try a maroon instead of black to blend with the pink? and no outline around the white belly part. oh, while i'm being picky... the tail seems a bit high up it's back ;)
That's what I'm talkin about, some honest-to-goodness criticism! :) Thank you, sir!
I just googled Gloomy Bear and I see what you mean. I was just trying to pick the Care Bear with the most ironic belly emblem, which in my estimation was the pink one.
I'll mess with the line weight some, maybe I can find a happy medium between cartoony lines and oppressive lines.
1. take away the tail. the bear's legs are spread. the tail would be in the middle (not visible).
2. i agree with bloody bear, bring the cheek in a little.
3. downsize the bones which should also make the outlines thinner, as pilihp suggests. bears are bigger than humans. the bones currently look like he ate a giant. maybe, also add some blood spatter on the bones to give it that "i just killed and feasted" effect.
Philip, I'm diggin' the new outline. I feel like that's usually a conclusion I come to much earlier, but for some reason I'd been holding on to black with this guy.
b-bear and steve, thanks for the input. I guess at the time I first put this up I was under the feeling that having no tail was going to look weirder than having a tail in the wrong spot. I just feel like the viewer might expect to see it, whether it's correct or not... I'll have to mull it over I guess. Also, I agree about the cheek.
Awesome design! The one question I have is with the blood on the mouth. Is there a fresh kill around? But then if you put a freshly killed person, it might be too gruesome. Nevermind (sigh).
Can you critique mine?
